Holiday Safety Tips

*Be aware of your surroundings. Don't get so distracted, you fail to notice what's happening around you.
*Shop during daylight hours and in groups of two or more.
*Park in well-lit areas. Walk out to parking lot in a group. There's safety in numbers.
*Lock your vehicle when you park AND as soon as you get in.
*Hide your valuables. Put purchases in the trunk.
*Avoid carrying a purse. Put your money, cards and ID in your front pocket.
*Free up your hands. Avoid carrying too many bags.
*Have your key in your hand when you walk out. Don't dig around in your purse in the parking lot.
*Try to avoid shopping with small children.
*Avoid isolated ATMs. Use ATM during daylight and try to use a drive-up one.
*Check your surroundings before you exit your locked vehicle.
*Always let someone know where you will be and when you will return. Leave details of your agenda. Touch base with your current location.
*When returning home, make sure you are not being followed.
*If you are, get license number, vehicle description and stay on main roadways. Go to an occupied and lighted location; police station, fire department, grocery store, etc. and call for help.
*Have someone at home meet you outside and help you carry bags.
